Most C40 cities have new and/or historic landfills for in-land waste disposal. In some cases, cities have incorporated up-to-date landfill gas capture technology and energy generation from captured gas. Others, particularly those with older landfills, may be relying on older technology or may be flaring excess methane rather than capturing for energy generation. This session will highlight the experience of cities that are successfully generating energy from waste gas, and identify potential areas of collaboration for those cities interested in implementing similar programs.
